A rare evergreen shrub or little tree with slow growth and a long life. Pyramidal while young, becoming rounded with age. Elegant, long dark green leaves, bronze when budding. Appreciates a light, deep and fresh soil, and is tolerant to oceanic conditions. In Japan, this plant is used to form hedges.
