Ideal in containers, rock gardens, banks and small gardens. Dwarf plant, an often tortured form, very dense and compact. Bushy with spreading out branches, and raised extremities. Dark green needles of 3-4 cm long. Smooth erect young branches, a tender green colour in spring. The 2-6cm long cones are light brown turning darker with age. Excellent rustic plant, tolerating poor and chalky soils. Mugo or Mugho is the Tyrolian name for the wild plant.
