Young shoots are red, becoming green, streaked with white and pink and going red again in the autumn, associate with heather and heathland plants. Adapts well to garden pots. In May, carries a few short drooping bunches of lightly perfumed white flowers. Forms a rounded, low shrub with arched branches, spreading out with age. Synonym : walteri 'Rainbow'.
