Forms a compact cone with erect branches. Browny-red bark, fibrous in young subjects, becoming grey and flaky with age. Grey green foliage, tinted with blue having a strong scent. Round cones of 1.8 to 2cm in diameter. In a chalky soil, choose plants grafted from Cupressus sempervirens. Plant in isolation, in groups, tall hedges for screening or as a windbreak. Can grow to over 6m.
