Beautiful purplish-red foliage in spring, bronze-red in summer and then crimson-red in autumn. A compact shrub with flexible branches that are strongly thorny and with drooping ends. Creamy yellow flowers in May followed by a few red fruits in September-October. Tolerant and easy to grow, excellent in free, low or defensive hedges. Hybrid between B. thunbergii and B. vulgaris.
