The enormous blue flowers, can sometimes grow to over 30cm in diameter. It looks like there is a second ball of flowers in the inflorescence, there are so many flower buds forming inside (reiteration). Borne on strong stems, sometimes 1.5m long, and repeating often at the end of summer to September. The green leaves are persistant.
