Remarkable small tree or large shrub, domed with deeply cut palm shaped leaves of 7-15cm. Superb long-lasting red vermillion colours as early as August. Purple-red flowering in umbels before the leaves appear. Red fruits of 2-3cm, lasting long after the leaves have fallen. Beautiful smooth, grey-brown bark. Prefers a non-calcareous soil, rich, cool and well drained. Melliferous. Synonym : 'Maiku-jaku' (Dancing Peacock).
