Slightly sprawling, compact sphere. Very slow growth. Robust plant. Slightly chalky soils are tolerated. Ideal for small areas, containers, rock gardens, bordering terraces. Introduced by Maurice de Vilmorin at Verrières-le-Buisson, under the name of Juniperus Japonica. Vilmorin was a competitor of Veitch & Sons from Comb Wood, Surrey (GB) in the race to introduce new plants to Europe
