Lovely compact small tree, bushy from the base. Remakable orange autumn colours. Young branches are a bright coral-red colour. Bunches of purpely-red flowers in March-April followed by red winged fruit in August-September. Prefers a not too chalky soil, rich, cool and well drained. In japanese, Kaku means 'Tower' and Sango means 'Coral'. Synonym : 'Senkaki'. Can grow to over 5m in age.
