Superb orangey young shoots, turning gold in summer, then orange-yellow in autumn. The edges of its leaves are often more brightly coloured, an added attraction to the whole. Vigorous, bushy and erect plant, larger in height than width. Decorative in a garden, can be formed into a Bonzaï. Prefers a not too chalky soil, rich, fresh and well drained. Can grow to over 5m with age.
