Produces spectacular bunches of double flowers, displaying multiple colours as they develop, from green to white, then light pink to dark pink, then brown. Well defined dark green leaves, resembling those of an oak, but larger, turning red in autumn. The bark is decorative too, light brown on young shoots, becoming darker brown on the older branches in winter and peeling in strips.
